Faux Marble Ceilings - Marblizing Techniques
Some of the most delightful surfaces are inspired by marble, and "marble like" stones. Urban Revivals can create faux marble, tortoise shell, and lapis lazuli surfaces. These techniques are suitable for furniture, wall panels, columns, moldings, and doors. For ceilings, we prefer lighter and lightly grained marbles finished in a matte varnish
Selection of Base, Glaze, and Grain colors
Faux finishing brushes are long and wavy. Apply finishes softly to spread glazes.
Pale Green Marble with Cream and Darker Grey Grain
This marblized ceiling was created in a home in NW Washington DC, and was featured in the San Francisco Chronicle and Washington Post. The matte varnish was essential in removing the uneven reflections that can be caused by the graining technique. The marble was set within a border of gold and antiqued anaglypta border.
